Welcome to my professional website. My name is Sebastien Dupertuis
and this place is a view of my professional background.

My profile
It has been more than ten years since I have been working at
MathWorks in Bern as an application engineer, and later as a
senior application engineer. Throughout my professional career in
the industry, which spans over fifteen years of experience, I have
always kept close contact with the academic world (universities
and engineering schools).
|
Throughout all these years, I have gained extensive experience in
the field of engineering across various industries such as
industrial automation, robotics, medical and pharmaceutical
equipment, automotive, as well as aerospace. This has allowed me
to become familiar with work methodologies, industry-specific
standards, and development processes implemented in large
companies such as ABB, Alstom, Roche, Hamilton, Sonova, and others.
I have also worked with small and medium-sized enterprises,
which are highly prevalent in Switzerland.
|
Through my constant interactions with all these industry
stakeholders, I have been able to build a significant network of
contacts within Switzerland, as well as abroad. Simultaneously, I
have always maintained connections with the academic sector, both
with engineering schools and Swiss universities, such as HEIA-FR,
UNIBE, NTB Buchs, ZHAW, ETH, and others. This has allowed me to
sustain the relationships formed during my studies and to establish
new ones.
|
Since September 2013, my work at MathWorks has involved direct
contact with customers across the entire national territory and
even in Europe to discuss their specific applications and present
suitable solutions. This is done in various ways, such as carrying
out projects through consulting, or developing and managing
projects and applications for the various aforementioned
industries. Detailed presentations on highly specific topics such
as project management, modeling of physical systems, software
engineering, verification and validation, or automatic code
generation for various types of embedded systems are conducted.
Additionally, I have had responsibilities regarding the management
and organization of various major industrial events such as Sindex
or SWISSED.
I have also developed and delivered, on several occasions for
customers, a complete training program for embedded systems
following the Model-Based Design approach right through to
hardware implementation for STM32 microprocessors and AMD Zynq SoC
platforms.
|
Regarding my academic background, I took the University of Applied
Sciences path for the engineering school, as well as the
University path for both, the Bachelor and Master degrees. This
allows me to have an overall perspective on the curriculum at the
Swiss level and to be familiar with the requirements and
expectations of both systems.
|
In 2021, I obtained my Master’s degree in Software Engineering for
Embedded Systems from the University of Kaiserslautern in Germany.
This program, unique in Europe, could only be pursued while
working in parallel with a company. This proved to be very
beneficial for me to strengthen existing ties and forge new
connections between industry and academia. Earlier in my career, I
earned two other significant degrees: one in Telecommunication
Engineering with a specialization in signal processing, and
another in Physics from the University of Geneva (UNIGE).
Additionally, I received a certificate as an expert in
radioprotection (ionizing radiation). During these studies, I
conducted several experimental physics laboratories and also
taught programming in mathematics and physics laboratories.
|
After working for more than fifteen years as a software engineer
and application engineer (Senior) in multilingual environments
(French, German, English), and gaining solid experience in the
industrial world, particularly related to embedded systems. My
goal would be to pass on my experience to future engineers.
